Harambee Stars midfielder McDonald Mariga (left) celebrates his goal against Angola with team-mates Dennis Oliech and Bob Mugalia at Nyayo stadium on March 27, 2011.

McDonald Mariga is not getting enough playing time at Inter Milan, a situation that has compelled the player to consider a move from Italy.

According to reports, Inter are likely to accept an offer for the Kenyan international from Real Sociedad.
Olympique Lyon, West Bromwich Albion and Stoke City were last week said to be interested in Mariga with the Ligue 1 side having an upper hand as Inter were more likely to accept a swap deal for their target, Michel Bastosl.
According to Footballpress.net, Inter could now accept the bid from Real Sociedad.
Mariga travelled with Inter to Beijing, China, for the Coppa Italia match but coach Gian Piero Gasperini kept him on the bench as AC Milan came from a goal down to win 2-1 and secure their sixth Italian Cup.
As the Mariga transfer saga continues to unfold, the national team Harambee stars leaves today for Gaborone, Botswana, for a Fifa international friendly match against the Zebras on Wednesday at 4pm.
Auxerre striker Dennis Oliech, Celtic’s Victor Mugabe, Durban-based Dennis Odhiambo, KF Tirana’s James Situma, Romania-based Jamal Mohammed and FK Moss goalkeeper Arnold Origi held the team’s final training session yesterday afternoon together with other 10 local-based players.
Qualifying match
Mariga and Yanga’s Jerry Santos are expected in the country this morning before the team leaves for Botswana.
Football Kenya Limited had other offers to play either Malawi or the South African Under-23 team at the Nyayo National Stadium in preparation for the next month’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Guinea Bissau here in Nairobi.
The next match for the Stars will be on the weekend of October 8- 9 against the Ugandan Cranes.
“All the players have reported and we hope to have a very fruitful friendly match against Botswana, who we all know are a good side,” said Harambee Stars head coach, Zedekiah Otieno. “This is a good build-up for us before we take on Guinea Bissau next month.”
Botswana was the first team to qualify for the 2012 African Cup of Nations after topping Group K. The Zebras are currently ranked 74th in the World Fifa rankings.

Zico names Stars' squad for Botswana match

Coach Zedekiah Otieno has named an 18 man national soccer team Harambee Stars to play in an international friendly scheduled for August 10th in Gaborone-Botswana. Congolese import Demonde Selenga weaved the first good move of the game after outwitting three Tusker players and then finding Collins Omondi but timely intervention by Tusker defense prevented further damage.
New Tusker signing Hillary Echesa effort in the 6th minute ended up in a corner that was duly saved. In the 9th minute Demonde Selenga had a great effort but his header went top of the post after a good long ball from Solomon Nasio.
Midway through the first half,Tusker took the game to Gor Mahia but another timely intervention by captain and keeper Fred Onyango foiled the brewers striking department efforts. George Midenyo received a great cross from Jockins Atudo but the assistant referee ruled him for offside.
Gor Mahia replied with a Collins Omondi's effort after a poor clearance by lanky Tusker defender Joseph Shikokoti. Former Gor Mahia man Ibrahim Kitawi then set up Maurice Odipo but latters final shot went off target.
With five minutes to the break Jockins Atindo unleashed a powerful low free kick shot but keeper Fred Onyango was up to the task to end the first half evenly balanced.
Second Half
The second period saw Gor Mahia pack their midfield to disrupt a dominant Tusker side’s ball flow.Immediately after the break ,Tusker won a corner after a misdirected header by Eric Masika but it didn’t trouble K’Ogalo defensve as Atudo shot wide. In the 51st minute, George Midenyo thought he had given Tusker the lead but the assistant linesman flag was up for an offside.
In the 55th Demonde Selenga’s shot went straight into keeper Oluoch’s gloves  after a sleek back heel from Wycliff Ochomo.Selenga then failed to connect well with substitute Kevin Omondi's great cross infront of goal thus allowing Tusker defense to recover.
Tusker’s pressed forward again with George Midenyo’s advancing well into Gor Mahia box but great defending by Akumu saved the day for K'Ogalo. In the 69th minute Jockins Atundo goal for Tusker was ruled for offside.
With ten minutes to the end ,Coach Pamzo Omollo threw in Nigerian Joseph  Emeka for George Midenyo while Zico opted for Ivans Anguyo in place of for Anthony Akumu. Paul Were’s late entrance in place of Kitawi added some impetus to Tusker’s striking force but it was Crispin Olando who missed the last opportunity for Tusker after another  great save by Fred Onyango
Great match
In the post-match interview, Coach Pamzo Omollo was unhappy that they didn’t break the K’Ogalo jinx but nevertheless termed the 90 minutes as a great game.
Gor Mahia’s Zico on his part said the match was a tough one “The Game was tough, Tusker kept on  pressing in second half but we waited for a counter attack.”
